For malleable iron pipe fittings, the earliest standard is BS143 in 1922, which has preliminary provisions for pipe fittings. In order to demonstrate its own strength, this standard also includes the American standard. In 1945, after Germany was defeated in World War II and witnessed the power of Germany, BSI incorporated the German standard based on BS143 and established the standard BS1256. In 1986, the two standards were combined, collectively known as BS143&1246. In 1933, the European Union was established. In 1955, the European Union decided to adopt the British standard. Therefore, BS143&1256 minor modification, formally renamed BS EN10242, this standard is currently the most widely used international standard number.

Brief introduction of special casting process of malleable steel pipe fittings

(1) The carbon dioxide type uses quartz sand plus 3-6 sodium silicate as a binder for molding. The molding method is the same as the above wet type. After molding, carbon dioxide gas is blown between the sand particles to harden the mold. After blowing carbon dioxide gas, the same mold hardness as the thousand type can be obtained. Therefore, this carbon dioxide type has been widely used to replace the dry type.

(2) Fluid self-hardening mold such as adding sodium silicate, hardener, foaming agent (interface activator) and water to quartz sand, and after mixing and grinding, micro bubbles are formed between sand grains to obtain a mixture of gas and sand grains , This kind of molding sand does not need to be compacted, and it can fill every corner between the model and the sand box by its own weight. This mold is called a fluid self-hardening mold.

A few minutes after the sand flows in; the bubbles disappear. While losing fluidity, the hardener acts on the sodium silicate, and the mold can be ejected about 40 minutes after it starts to harden.

According to the different chemical reactions of the no-hardening process, there are many hardening methods.

Type (3) uses coated sand in which the surface of sand grains is covered with furan resin. The resin-coated sand is sprinkled on the heated metal model for the first time, and the resin is melted due to the heat of the model, and the resin sand forms a thin bonding layer along the surface of the model (the remaining unbonded sand can be reused next time). Heat the thin sand layer together with the model to about 260°C. After the sand grains are completely hardened, remove the thin sand layer from the model to obtain a half shell. Bond the two halves of the shell with an adhesive to form a shell.

(4) The negative pressure molding method covers the surface of the model with a plastic film, puts a sand box on it, and then fills it with dry sand without binder. The sand box is also covered with a plastic film, and then the vacuum pump draws air and decompresses outwards from the vent hole opened on the sand box. The dry sand sandwiched between the model surface and the upper layer of plastic film is compacted under the action of atmospheric pressure to complete the shape. This modeling method is also called the V method process.

Pouring can be carried out after the mold is drawn and the box is fastened. In order to prevent the mold from collapsing during the pouring process, it is necessary to continue to depressurize. The characteristic of this mold is that no binder and moisture are added at all.

(5) The magnetic molding method is a method in which a magnetically strong granular object is used instead of sand, and a magnetic field is given a binding force to carry out molding. Since the mold cannot be drawn, the foamed polystyrene gasification model is used.
